Happy Monday from Grandeco.

The sun is out this morning with spots of clouds. Only 1cm of fresh snow has fallen since last night, but we had 8cm the day before, so the overall trail conditions have improved greatly since the last rain fall. The sun should stay with us for most of the morning and hopefully into the mid-afternoon as well to help soften up the snow.

Many hikers have been climbing up Mt. Nishidaiten over the weekend. If you decide to make the trek don't forget to bring maps, GPS, foods and extra warm clothing. Also please be sure to sign into the mountain climbing report sheet, located in at the ski centre information desk, before start climbing.

The snow around the Mt. Nishidaiten peak should be soft powder snow, however the areas lower down may be crusted-over just under the 10 or so cms of new snow that has fallen over the weekend. Proceed with causation.

Snow should start falling again around Tuesday, with sunshine forecast until then.

It`s a good day to get out on the slopes, but be sure to bring some sunnies and sun cream.
