Good morning from Hakuba.

It's Chinese New Year weekend and very best wishes to everyone celebrating - there's more than a few of them here in Hakuba at the moment.

Strong winds affected lifts yesterday with Hakuba 47 ending up completely closed early. And mild temperatures. And rain here in the village. No, not a very nice day really.

But hopefully today will be much improved. It's a bit colder (though still probably milder than it should be during the day) and there's definitely less wind. Resorts are reporting 0cm-10cm (Goryu) of fresh snow on mountain this morning, and there's just a dusty frosting down here by my place.

There's still a lot of cloud about - and poor visibility by the looks in places - early on this morning but we are expecting the skies to clear up and to see the sun later on.

Next snow? Late tomorrow and Monday.

Have a fun Saturday.
