The morning started off cloudy in Hakuba with a low of around 3 degrees in the village early on. Clouds cleared somewhat for a while with some blue on show but it has since clouded over once again and the rain has arrived. Unfortunately it looks like the rain is going to be with us until at least the first part of tomorrow, perhaps even until evening time. It will be a bit cooler tomorrow before rising once again with sunny conditions on Sunday. Next week we can expect a run of good clear conditions once again.

Pick of the weekend would have to be early on Sunday for the clearer conditions. Hopefully more people will once again turn up for the weekend and we can have a lively one. Have fun out there, some great spring conditions to enjoy and still a month of resorts left in the season.

Official snow depths and operations @ Friday 8th April AM:

Hakuba Goryu:
The upper slopes at Goryu plan to be open until 8th May.
The Gondola and Alps No3 pair lifts are operating.
The Toomi area lifts are now closed for the season, but you can still ride down to the Gondola base. The resort advises that only intermediates/advanced riders ski/board down due to the course still open.... beginners should take the Gondola.
Alps daira - 245cm;
Toomi - 100cm.

Hakuba 47:
All lifts except Line D lift operating with all courses still open.
47 plans to be open into May.
Snow depth (upper) - 186cm

Happo-one:
The Gondola, Alpen Quad, Kurobishi No2 Quad and Panorama pair lifts remain open and the upper slopes are planning to be open until 5th May (lower lifts are now closed for the season). In addition, the Grat Quad also plans to be moving on Saturdays, Sundays and also from 29th April until 5th May. You can still ride down to the base Gondola station as there is still good snow cover.
Usagidaira/Kurobishi - 180cm

Tsugaike Kogen:
The Gondola as well as the Tsuga No2 pair and Han-no-ki high speed pair lifts in the upper area of the resort are operating. It is possible to ski/board right down from the top to the bottom of the resort via the Han-no-ki and lower Kawamatsu courses.
Snow depth upper - 275cm

Hakuba Iwatake, Hakuba Sanosaka, Cortina and Hakuba Minekata are now all closed for the season.
