Morning all!

An early report this Sunday morning as I don't think there's any threat to resorts opening as planned.

A very slight dusting of snow this morning but the sun is out and it's mostly blue skies above - just a few fluffy white clouds here and there.

A lovely day.

I'd expect some icy conditions at the start of the day, loosening up as it gets a little warmer during the day.

That's about it for now - take care and have fun!

Niseko Avalanche Report:

Mountain base : -2°, no new snow. Moiwa 800m: -3.8°, SW0.4m/s. Annupuri 1000m: snowpack 230cm. Hirafu 1250m, -7°, light SW winds. Coastal data: Kamui Cape: SSW8m/s, 1020hPa, wave 0.8m, Benkei Cape SSE2m/s.

We are currently under the influence of a high pressure system, the weather is calm and sunny. With increasing temperatures during the day, snow melt below 800m will continue and creek water levels will rise throughout the day. From observation, snowdrifts are stable and risk of surface slab avalanche is low, however beware on steep slopes that the surface crust may collapse. All peak gates are expected to be open. The snow conditions will be hard and frozen first thing and soften up for easier riding later on in the morning.

Cracks are forming in many areas now. Often they cannot be seen from above and can be the cause of a fatal accident if you crash into one. Ride with care. On steep south facing slopes and cliffs areas, like Haru no Taki, which are strongly effected by the sun, the risk of full depth avalanches continues to increase. Avoid riding in the valley bottoms, this is the avalanche path. Do stop and wait at the bottom of steep valley sidewalls. Have a good day.

LATE SEASON REPORTING
The individual Now reports will continue in each area until the season in that place closes - some will continue daily, some will become less than daily once we get into April.

Once the season has finished everywhere, we will be adding a general season wrap up to each of the reports, where we will also answer questions and comments that we regularly get sent. Some do keep on coming back! The end of season message will be up at the end of Golden Week in early May.

Thank you for reading.
