A beautiful spring day today with plenty of sun, light winds and mild temps. It makes a welcome change to the cold, snowy and windy weather of the last couple of days. Yesterday although not forecast to receive much snow had snowfalls throughout the day adding another 5-10cm since last report.
First thing this morning there would have actually been some reasonable quality snow up high. Today has warmed significantly though with temperatures getting near 7 degrees at the base. Mild temperatures are expected to continue for much of the outlook so the snow yesterday may well be the last we'll see to village level.
Snow still covers all the plains around the base of the mountain but the farmers have been busy ploughing the snow on their fields and covering them with black ash to speed up the melting process. I'd say some of the fields will be free of snow over the next week or so if the temperatures remin mild.
It's very quiet around the village in Hirafu now with few restaurants still open and very few people up on the hill. Things should pick up a bit though during the Golden Week holiday starting near the end of the month.

Current Official Snow Depths:

Grand Hirafu:
Top - 310
Bottom - 120

Annupuri:
Top - 310
Bottom - 130
