Good morning from Niseko.

The fine weather continues this morning, and it'll very probably be more of the same tomorrow as well.

It's making my reports a bit short at the moment as there's not much to report.

Perhaps I'll have to up the 'toast' reporting (I'm just kidding). :)

Let's spring!

---

Doesn't feel like much wind down here at all but stronger winds being reported at higher elevations. Top lifts appear to be open as normal though.

---

2 more days (nights) of 'nighta': today (ie. tonight) and tomorrow (ie. tomorrow night).

It's crusty out there in the evenings but I always try to make a point of going out for a bit on last nighta, even if it's just for 30 minutes before a good soak in a bath.

---

Niseko Avalanche Report:

Mountain base : -2°, no new snow. Moiwa 800m: -4.2°, W10m/s, no new snow. Annupuri 1150m: Hirafu 1250m: Coastal data: Kamui Cape: N3m/s, 1018hPa, wave 0.6m.

High pressure continues with sunny weather. There is no new snow and strong westerly winds at higher elevations. From observation general avalanche risk is low. All gates are expected to be open.

Winter seasons where the snowfall has been average, full depth avalanches can be expected from the snowdrifts formed around Osawa 1100m. This year's much shallower snow pack causes this risk to decrease. However this doesn't mean they won't happen, with the right combination of high pressure, rain or a sudden freezing event, they will slide. To avoid accidents don't wait in the valley bottoms. Avalanches are natural occurrences and wont be in accident if no one is involved.

The amount of water in the creeks is increasing. If a snow bridge collapses and you land in the water, it will quickly become a life threatening situation if you get swept under snow bridges further downstream. Today's weather is good. Be careful hitting trees or falling into cracks. There is still good snow on the mountain.
