Clear and sunny
Good morning everyone.
It's a beauty as well... we are enjoying some beautiful, clear blue skies and sunshine at the start of the day today in the region.
It is currently +4C and it will warm up a little - but not too much.
The forecast still shows a bit of snowfall lined up for later on Wednesday. Wouldn't that be a nice late season gift?

Thin high cloud but bright - and sunny conditions forecast
Hello and good morning from Yuzawa.
Yesterday was rather dull and foggy with at least unappealing drizzly rain through the day - heavier rain at some times particularly during the morning. It was something of a wet way for the season to end for a handful of ski resorts.
This morning there's some thin high cloud around but it's much clearer and brighter, and sunny skies are forecast for the day.
Temperatures won't be as high, with 12-13C forecast for early afternoon at town level.
From today only the GALA Yuzawa, Kagura, Kandatsu Kogen resorts remain open daily. Naeba is closed on weekends and plans to open again on weekends before Golden Week - and also during Golden Week.
Resort information as of Monday 10th April 2017
Subject to change depending on snow and weather conditions.
GALA Yuzawa GALA Yuzawa plans to be open until Sunday 7th May. All of the Central Area courses and part of the North Area currently remain open. The sledding area is also open. The Falcon downhill course is now closed - use the Gondola to get back down to base. Official snow depth: 280cm

Closed courses according to official website are the Gondola East Course (at Tashiro) and the downhill course (back to Mitsumata car park). Kagura Park plans to be open daily from Wednesday 12th April. Official snow depth: Kagura - 350cm; Mitsumata - 300cm; Tashiro - 320cm

Nozawa Onsen Now!
Monday 10th April 2017, 8:45am
High thin cloud, bright and sunny
Good morning from Nozawa.
It's a drier and clearer morning which is nice to see.
The snow is retreating fairly quickly now especially at base areas -- some patches of ground starting to show around Karasawa, but still we have very good snow cover especially when you consider it is 10th April... and lots of snow still on the upper areas of the mountain.
From today, the Uenotaira quad, Paradise quad and Skyline pair lifts will be operating only on weekends and Golden Week.
So that means that on weekdays (like today), the operating lifts are the Nagasaka Gondola and the two Yamabiko quad lifts.
You can still ski or snowboard back down close to the Hikage base area - from where you can get on a shuttle bus back over to the base of the Nagasaka Gondola if you want to get back up top. Snow conditions are better higher up though, so I expect that most people will be staying up there for most of the day.
Looks like there's a chance of some rain again tomorrow afternoon.

Sorry for the later report this morning - information checking was taking some time this morning, but I think I have got it all up to date and correct!
Lots of fog around yesterday afternoon - well, there was up at 47 where I - and it felt quite chilly actually.
The sun is out and it's blue in some places but lots of high thin cloud around too giving the morning a pale but bright feel.
Over the last week the snow around town has quickly been disappearing and it getting thinner on the ground on lower slopes as well. There's still a lot of snow on the mountains though, it's going to take a while for that lot to melt!

The sun is shining through high, thin clouds
Well. We're down to two ski areas operating, although there's a lot of snow out there (and we could see some new snow above 1,000 meters on Wednesday and Thursday!).
The list of operating lifts are below; I'll pop in from time to time to update the snow levels or any changes.
