Cloudy in some places, blue skies in others.
Good morning from Naeba everybody.
Today is looking like it could go either way. There is a fair amount of cloud around and some snow still falling, however, in some parts of the sky blue skies and sunshine are showing through.
As of yesterday, we have another 7cm of snow so there should be some powder to be smashed during the morning.
For this coming week, we are expecting snow most days with mostly clear weather on Sunday. There is, unfortunately, some rain forecast for Monday, however, this should become snow later on in the night so don't worry! At the moment it seems that Wednesday will experience the best snow so get those powder planks ready.
Night skiing is planned until Monday 20th March 2017 at the Niseko Annupuri, Niseko Grand Hirafu and Niseko Village resort areas. There is no nighta in the Hanazono area. Read more ...

Blue sky, cloud
Good morning from Madarao and what a great start to the weekend.
Fresh snow (20cm being reported by the resort, 18cm measured by me) on the ground and a mix of blue sky, sun and cloud at the time of writing.
It's perhaps not the driest of peak season snow quality, but we are approaching mid-March! (I feel bad even kind of mentioning that). ;)
That's about it really. Should be a great morning and tomorrow fine weather is forecast again.
AND... there's snow on them there forecasts mid week.
Madarao Kogen plans to be open until Sunday 2nd April. I want it to keep open longer!
Operating status for the day at Madarao Kogen (at time of report):
- Number 1 lift - Number 2 quad lift - Number 3A lift - Number 5 lift - Super quad lift - Number 11 lift - Number 12 lift - Number 13 lift - Number 15 lift - Moving walkway - Kids Park - Free Ride Park - Snow Mobile Land
Tree runs should be open
- Powder Wave I - Powder Wave II - River Line - Powder Theater - Adventure Aisle - Crystal Bowl - Ninja - Sawa - Rabbit - Kamoshika - Bear
- Nighta at Madarao Kogen is every Saturday until 25th March (and also on 19th March)
Fabulous day on the slopes yesterday with that good layer of fresh snow to play in, and I am hearing some excited reports from people going backcountry... talk of up to 60cm out there.
This morning just a bit more snow being reported from mostly upper resort areas, just a bit outside here.
Still conditions should remain very nice for the start of the weekend and while there is still quite a bit of cloud around there's an increasing amount of blue sky and the sun is out. Less cloud as the morning goes on I reckon and it is going to be a fine day and importantly not like it is going to warm up too much.
More fine sunny weather is on the forecast for tomorrow though it will be getting a bit warmer.
Just check out the forecast too... some good potential around mid-week.
Have a fun Saturday wherever you may be.

Amazing blue skies around Grandeco this morning.

This weekend should will be fair occasionally cloudy. All together, 59cm of new snow has fallen in Grandeco over these last four days though it looks like we might have to wait until around Thursday for the next lot.

The sun's out at the moment, but lots of clouds
Powder! Yes, that March snow has come again, just when a lot of people have left the country (and the Japanese start getting distracted by the cherry blossoms starting to come up from the south and west. It's not spring yet!).
A good fall overnight of pretty wet snow, we have to say, but it's going to be good up there.
It's hard to believe we're really in the last three weeks for the ski areas...
Not as much as that on the ground in town - we are measuring 6cm - but it is snowing still now. It's not expected to continue much longer though with something of a clear up of conditions forecast by this afternoon.
Tomorrow should be fine and sunny and getting slightly milder again.
We can look forward to more snow next week though probably around Wednesday and Thursday. Let's keep the regular top-ups going...
Official snow depth information as of Saturday 11th March 2017
Kandatsu Kogen 'Hobo All Night' ('Almost All Night' from 6pm-4am) is on Fridays, Saturdays and nights before holidays until 1st April 2017. Spring nighta (6pm-10pm) on Saturdays and nighta before holidays from 7th April until 22nd April
And it's a good start to the weekend. Up to 10cm of snowfall on mountain yesterday morning and some more overnight gives us 10-30cm across the mountain since my report yesterday and I am measuring 16cm here near base.
It means that there's a good refresh from base up to top and there should be lots of fresh snow to play in especially at higher elevations this morning. It's keeping pretty cold up there too which is all good.
As you might notice from the images below, as of 9am it's a mix of conditions. Poor visibility and light snow still falling up top, and some clearing clouds and sunshine lower down. The forecast is for clearer weather so I expect things to go that way during the day today - with sunny clear skies expected from early morning tomorrow.
Snow is forecast in the coming week too, so another refresh is on the way.
Less people around too now that we are approaching March. Perhaps they don't know what they are missing!

Fine, some cloud
Good morning from Zao.
There's a mix of blue sky and cloud this morning with the sun breaking through the cloud at times. A fine morning.
Fine weather conditions are what are forecast for the weekend, with a chance of some snowfall in the first part of the coming week.
More people around this morning than on weekdays of course, but not nearly as many as in January and February.

Partly cloudy skies
Sunny skies with the clouds rolling in and a temperature of -1 outside. We did get more snow yesterday but not enough to be significant. Today the clouds should be on and off again all day and with the winds being relatively light it should be a fun start to the weekend.
Tomorrow should be equally nice with no snow forecast and a temperature of around -4 on the slopes. Looking ahead for next week we may see a deluge of snow coming our way on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. It’s promising nearly 50cm of snow - I hope you’re as excited as I am about that!
All the runs are open and in good shape too.
Get out there and have some fun before it all ends.

It is a wintery start to the day with -10c in the village but daytime temperatures will rise to around 0c. It is full sunshine and nice clear skies with only the odd cloud floating about. There has been a dusting of snow overnight, but not enough to make one centimetre. The resort itself did receive some accumulation which is nice and powdery due to the cold overnight temperatures.
The outlook for tomorrow is sunshine and calm conditions. Enjoy the spring conditions... Read more ...

Cloudy with occasional snow flurries
Excellent day up at Tenjin with enough snowfall overnight to completely refresh everything.
On-piste the recorded snowfall wasn't all that much but we were cutting tracks at least 20cm deep.
The weather stayed cool with either snow or clouds all day. The cat track was shut due to avalanche risk so tomorrow should be good too.
Next snowfall due on Monday and then some significant snow due on Wednesday and Thursday.
Definitely one of the best starts to March I've seen in years.
