We have awoke this morning to a heavy snowfall blanketing all roads, gardens, roofs and anything else exposed. It is currently snowing heavily and 5cm has accumulated on the ground and roads are frozen and slippery. The snowfall will continue throughout the day. Temperatures will be warm and well above freezing tomorrow and this will bring rain, even at the top of the resort. Visibility is limited due to the heavy snow, but when this eases up visibility will improve significantly. Read more ...

Mix of cloud and blue sky
Hurray, it's April 13th and it has been snowing. Yey!
It's blowing around in the strong winds, but I think I am justified in adding 1cm to the report this morning. There's probably more higher up and these winds have been working on it too, so it'll be interesting to see how the slopes are this morning.
Unfortunately, the wind means that Niseko Annupuri is closed and so is the top lift at Niseko Grand Hirafu, so limited choice if you wish to brave the conditions!
Still, good visibility and some blue sky up there too now. It doesn't look like it's going to get back to 'calm' today, or indeed tomorrow. Perhaps we will have to wait until the weekend for that.

Blue sky, some cloud
Morning from Nozawa and things are much nicer this morning.
Some blue sky and some sunshine. And it's actually pretty cold. Certainly for mid April.
From tomorrow things should start getting warmer once again.
A nice day to go and check out that 1cm of fresh snow being reported up on the Yamabiko runs.
You can still ski or snowboard back down close to the Hikage base area - from where you can get on a shuttle bus back over to the base of the Nagasaka Gondola if you want to get back up top. Snow conditions are better higher up though, so I expect that most people will be staying up there for most of the day.
