Morning from Hakuba.
Strong winds on mountain are affecting lifts at the start of this morning.
Happo-one and Tsugaike Kogen are not going to be opening as planned, and it looks like the top Alps lifts at Hakuba Goryu are going to be on hold. Please do check with the resorts if you are planning on being out there today.
It's not the nicest of mornings though with a bit of rain, so let's see if things can improve quickly and get things going. Better weather expected this afternoon and sunshine is on the forecast for tomorrow.

Good morning to you all.
From what I hear quite a lot of people are still checking out my reports. I'll do my best to keep them interesting as the season approaches the end. Having said that, there's still three weeks left!
It's the weekend so the Gondola at Niseko Grand Hirafu is operating once again.
How about the weather? A cloudy start to the day but if the forecasts are right we should see sunshine during the day today.
You can still ski back down to base - at both Hirafu and Annupuri. The bottom areas of Hirafu in particular are starting to get a little thin on the ground now. Unfortunately the Ace quad webcam is still stuck on a previous image unfortunately, so we can't see that happening there every day --- now, now; let's not be cynical!
It looks like wind is still going to be affecting top lifts this morning. Doh!
Sunny skies are forecast for tomorrow.

Good morning from Grandeco.
There were no fresh snow last night and rain is marked on the forecast for this evening.
It is a warm morning in the region. The snow conditions will be soft and not very slippery, so waxing will be important.
There's still more than two meters of snow depth on the courses so more than enough to enjoy the spring skiing and boarding on offer.
There is no snow or ice on the road, snow tires are not necessarily today.

Nozawa Onsen Now!
Saturday 15th April 2017, 9:03am
Cloud, blue sky
Morning from Nozawa.
There's quite a lot of cloud around but it feels like it is clearing and indeed sun is on the local forecasts.
It will be another fairly warm spring day and similar lined up for tomorrow too - slightly warmer still.
Lower areas seem to all of a sudden gotten rather dirty looking - always sad to see, but of course inevitable without fresh snow falling. The Karasawa slope area at base is now showing lots of ground. Farmers will be happy and trying their best to clear the snow to get cracking with their spring work.
There's still a lot of snow around on the mountain though and absolutely no snow cover issues on the upper slopes.
You can still ski or snowboard back down close to the Hikage base area - from where you can get on a shuttle bus back over to the base of the Nagasaka Gondola if you want to get back up top. Snow conditions are better higher up though, so I expect that most people will be staying up there for most of the day.

Clear, sunny, warm
Been a mixed bag of late in terms of conditions.
Last week's event at Tenjin, Minakami Vibes, was a resounding success but weather has been the variable. The Saturday was mostly foggy before clearing long enough to get some decent photos. The Sunday was rainy but they still drew over 800 riders for the two days. Then Monday and Friday were amazing with warm weather and blue skies and this good weather is here again today and forecast to continue through the weekend. The rest of the week was rain and with it, cold!
The snow doesn't seem to be taking much of a hit fortunately and we actually had 15cm of snow up top over the week but the trend is for shrinkage and the snow pack has dived 1m in a week.
The bowl is in place, being maintained daily and really good. They've built banked slalom style burns down from the top of the Tenjin lift which feed into an aggressive kicker and two big bowls side by side. They plan to keep it through golden week and it's as close to surfing a wave as you could get on a resort.
When the weather is good these days the snow is soft Spring corn and Kagura up top would be very good.
At Tenjin the cat track to the base is closed permanently for the remainder of the year and its hiking access toward mount Tanigawa as they are digging out underneath the Toge lift. Two diggers at it and the base up by the ridge looks to be at least 4m...
