Cloudy, light snow up top early on
Yesterday the clouds and rain/snow started to clear up around lunchtime and by late afternoon there was still a fair bit of cloud hanging around upper slopes but some patches of blue sky on show from the village and the lower slopes visible. It was snowing again up there in the evening though and this morning Hakuba Goryu is reporting 5cm of fresh snow on the upper slopes (0cm on lower). Hakuba 47 is also saying there is 5cm of new snowfall up there. More, no doubt, higher up further in the mountains.
It's a cold morning and light snow has still been falling on upper slopes early on but it is dry down here in the village at the moment... poor visibility on those slopes up there but signs are that things might be clearing up and it might turn into a decent afternoon. Clear skies and warmer temperatures are due tomorrow.
Official snow depths and operations @ Wednesday 20th April AM:
Hakuba Goryu: 5cm of fresh snow on the upper slopes on Wednesday morning. The upper slopes at Goryu plan to be open until 8th May. The Gondola and Alps No3 pair lifts are operating. All of the lower lifts are now closed for the season - you need to take the Gondola down to the base at the end of the day. Course areas open are: Kurobishi, Usagidaira and Panorama. Light snow, cloud
Good news from Kagura this morning. The resort has announced that they got 10cm of fresh snow since last night and up to 30cm of snow since yesterday morning. Not bad at all for the second half of April!
Visibility is fairly poor up there this morning with some light snow still falling but I'm sure you would be able to see enough to enjoy that new snow - and conditions should improve as the day progresses.
Fine weather conditions along with warmer temperatures forecast for tomorrow.
The downhill course from the bottom of the Mitsumata slopes to the Mitsumata car park is also open for the weekend.
Official Snow Depth:
We will post updates to this Naeba Now section a few times a week until the end of the season at Kagura. At the same time, the Yuzawa Now report area will continue to be updated on a daily basis including any information on Kagura as well. So please keep an eye on that report as well for the most up-to-date information on Kagura. Read more ...

There is a moderate breeze out on the mountain today but is it full sun and warm conditions. The temperatures have been cold over night so the snow will be firm early morning and softening up mid morning. There is some great skiing to be had out there on the Furano Zone. The official closing date is May 5, so there is still plenty of time to get some late season turns in. Read more ...

Rain (town); Light snow (upper Kagura)
The news this morning is 30cm of snow since my report yesterday. That's what the resort is telling us anyway and a very decent showing. It is still raining at town level where we haven't seen any snowfall but hopefully we will see things clearing up this afternoon. It's not getting that warm today after a chilly night with high of perhaps around 5 degrees.
We should be seeing more sun and warmer conditions tomorrow but right now it is looking like we will be having a wet weekend.

Cloudy, light snow, fog
More snow! It's almost feeling like winter again with poor visibility and snow still coming down this morning. Cold too. 10-20cm since yesterday perhaps.... Nice.
Things should clear up this afternoon though and leave us with a fine day tomorrow.
