Officially there is no more snow up in the mountains. One would have to agree with this as we are having unusually high amounts of rain in the Hakuba region, and in the whole of Japan for that matter!
If one had the desire to and the good weather to do it, you just might be able to find a few fields of snow that have not been melted away. Tsugaike and Happo both have thier gondolas running.
But the real fun stuff to do this summer is on the rivers and trails in the area. Hakuba 47 and Aokiko Ski areas both offer downhill MTB trails for people to ride. Aokiko Lake is great for Canoeing/Kayaking/Swimming and Kizakiko Lake for waterskiing and wakeboarding. Sanosaka has their newly designed water jump open for air training in the summer and I believe Goryu has their water jump open as well. Go and practice those misty 720's that you wanna stick for next season.
The newly designed Aokiko MTB trail is quite fun and though it is not lift accessed, they have van shuttles to the top for a very reasonable rate of 500 yen/day. Alongside the Matsukawa river in Donguri you can hit up the MTB Jump and Trials Park which is a blast and Hakuba 47 has their usual MTB dirt jumps going.
So although winter is over, we can still have a great time!
