Clear, sunny, warm spring day
Things really did warm up yesterday and today should be even warmer with temperatures rising above 10 degrees.
T-shirt weather! For me anyway. But yes things really changed over the last few days and certainly the last week.
But still, there's a lot of terrain open and if you enjoy sliding down on the spring snow there is of course a lot of fun still to be had - and not many people fighting for the lifts either. Bonus!
Beware melting snow... ;)

Thin cloud but bright and sunny
Morning from Yuzawa.
Yesterday it really did get rather warm out there. Surely the warmest of the year so far. At 3pm I was driving past the temperature signal on Route 17 about 2km from Ishiuchi Maruyama. It said 16C!
Yahoo weather forecast this morning says that temperature may well be close to reaching 20C later on today.
Wow! And to think, only yesterday Kagura reported up to 20cm of fresh snow up there. Was that the last of the fresh?
In the meantime, the mind is boggled.
Still, there's less need to get wrapped up to go skiing or snowboarding now and I'm guessing some brave folk will be out there in t-shirts.
Tomorrow should be warm too - perhaps not quite as much as today.

High thin cloud, sunny and bright
A fine and warm morning here - with the sun out and clear skies above the mountain backdrop, there is some thin high cloud around as of 9am.
The whole region is going to be experiencing some very warm conditions over the next few days. Temperatures up there in double digits, up to around 15C today in the village.
Kind of hard to believe that I was reporting fresh snow only yesterday!
Still, it is a very fine day to be out enjoying the spring conditions.

It is a very warm morning early on here in Furano, with the temperature in the village already rocketing to +6c at 8am. The high in town is expected to hit +14c which is going to make today feel tropical to the locals...I am already down to my t-shirt. Conditions in the area are perfectly clear with nice deep blue sky and full sun. The sun should stay through the day. Snow conditions will be soft from early on and the lower half of the mountain will be very slushy. It would be a good idea to change to a spring wax to try and combat any stickiness from the slush. Tomorrow is expected to bring rain from the afternoon. Read more ...
