Snow and weather reports posted on Thursday 25th May 2017
Thursday 7th April 2011, 9:06am
There is high cloud over Furano today and it is expected to remain like this throughout the day. It is still relatively warm but the cloud is preventing the sun from coming through. On slope conditions are spring snow, but it shouldn't soften so early today due to that cloud cover. Read more ...

Windy and overcast
Yesterday was another fine, mild and sunny day with a top temperature near 13 degrees at the base of the mountain. Today the wind is picking up and there's a high overcast increasing from the west. A low pressure system is approaching the NW of Hokkaido and a warm front is expected to cross the region later tonight bringing rain which will last into tomorrow. Tomorrow will be considerably cooler but there may only be a little snow up on the higher mountain. At this stage they are still forecasting some snow next week coming later on Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Current Official Snow Depths:
Grand Hirafu: Top - 365 Bottom - 160
Niseko Village: No longer reporting snow depth
Annupuri: Top - 350 Bottom - 150
This season's Niseko Avalanche Information is finished
It's not as blue today but the sun is once again out today and it has been a bright day up until now. Warm too and it is right now, according to the thermometer outside, 13 degrees in Yuzawa, so a fair bit of snow melt going on.
So, how about that rain tomorrow? Well, it looks like it is definitely going to happen in the second half of the day and we will probably have rainy conditions on Saturday as well. Better weather forecast for Sunday so that day is probably the pick of the weekend. We will of course update the page tomorrow with the latest.
Part open until 10th April: - Kandatsu Kogen - Nakazato Snow Wood
Mostly open until 22nd May: - Kagura (+ Mitsumata) [see Naeba Now for the latest]
All other resorts in the Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma area are now closed for the season.
It's a much greyer day today than it has been the last few. There is some blue sky on show from time to time... some great views of the mountains around 9-10am this morning, but now as I write this it is bright but grey. Some fine spring conditions out there with all that snow - with the warm temps we have been getting of late, you can't expect mid-winter snow conditions, but come with spring in mind and you'll be in for a treat. Right up to around 14 degrees this afternoon, so yes pretty warm.
Unfortunately rain is on the menu for tomorrow but hopefully it will clear up in time for Saturday and a better chance of clearer weather conditions on Sunday.

Bright, cloudy skies
Today has been another bright day in Nozawa, though not as clear blue skies with a more silverly blue/grey look to things. It has been warm though with a high of around +12 degrees in the village this afternoon. Very spring-like. Tomorrow morning might well start off bright but with a high chance of rain falling by the afternoon and perhaps even into Saturday, though the whole region looks likely to be seeing more sun and clear skies come Sunday.
Planned lifts operating until 22nd April (subject to change!):
-Paradise -Schneider -Challenge -Utopia A -Utopia B -Rinkan -Isemiya -Uenodaira Snow Park
There may be the changes to the above on any given day, so if you are planning a visit and this is important it's best to ask just to get the latest! We will endeavor to keep the above updated each day.
The Ryuoo Ski Park resort (which is about 20-25 minutes from Nozawa by car) also plans to be part open on the following days: April 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th and also from April 29th until May 8th. Read more ...
