This 24 room boutique hotel has been uniquely designed to blend traditional Japanese aesthetics with the warmth and character of a Canadian style wood lodge.

Completely refurbished in 2008, it offers a higher level of service than its star rating would suggest. With its own in house Onsen style baths, fine dining restaurant and bar. It is within walking distance of the best mountain in Hakuba, Happo One - other ski fields in the valley are easily accessed via the hotels complimentary shuttle bus service.

Double Black is within easy walking distance of Happo and Wadano villages bars, restaurants and shops.

Each room has Western style beds and ensuite, with double, twin or triple room configurations. All have a TV, alarm clock and hair drier. Rooms are serviced daily.

Hakuba village is located in the north western region of Nagano Prefecture and is about an hour road journey from central Nagano City and Nagano Station. The local Oito train line and Route 148 road both run through the village.

Double Black Hotel is about 5 minutes by car from Hakuba Station. The hotel offers free transfer to and from Hakuba bus and train stations. Fee applies for transfers to and from Hakuba / Nagano station.

At Nagano Train station, catch the local bus service to Hakuba. Tickets can be bought from the train station opposite the train ticket office, to the left of a small cafe as you come through the train ticket barriers. Buses leave regularly each, normally about 10-15 minutes after the Shinkansen arrives. Total travel time is about 4 hours door to door. Please phone ahead to let our hotel manager know what bus you will be on and they will pick you up from Hakuba bus terminal.

The Hakuba area is easily accessed from three expressways and around an hour drive from each.

The Azumino IC exit on the Nagano Expressway is just over 50km to the south of Hakuba, via Route 147 and Route 148.

The Nagano IC exit on the Joshinetsu Expressway is about 45km to the east of Hakuba, via Route 19, Prefecture Road 31 and Prefecture Road 33.

The Itoigawa IC exit on the Hokuriku Expressway is about 47km to the north of the Hakuba, via Route 148.
