Japan safety

Is Japan safe?

This question was hardly ever asked before March 11th 2011.

Japan has a wonderful reputation as being a very safe country.

March 11th 2011 was not a good day for Japan. As everyone surely knows, a strong earthquake and subsequent tsunami wreaked havoc on the north east coast of the main Honshu island and there was a lot of unease about the safety of visiting Japan for quite a while. It certainly affected the number of people visiting Japan in the 2011/2012 season.

Please read the report that we first published in June 2011, including comments from people living in the snow areas of Japan.

Our report on the Great East Japan Earthquake can be found here. as well as feedback and comments from people living in Japan.
