Niseko Grand Hirafu review by soobi
For lovers of powder runs niseko was truely amazing - who needs backcountry when there is sooooo much powder on piste?

However for those who like blue skies - be prepared for low light, closed in visibility and wind that shreds!

Ah but it is that which brings the white dust from heaven

Niseko Grand Hirafu
I came here last year and loved it.

Snow was great peole are lovely. This year theres more aussies than japanese. Some of the bars are closing early thinga are going missing. It is getting very crowded and tracked out much earlier than last year.

It got warm for a few days and snow became heavy like skiing in oz and skiing on piste is dull

Had awesome time overall. Loved the freezing temps which preserved the snow. Snow quality 10 out of 10 although we didnt get the deep powder that this resort normally offers.

The piste map isnt drawn too accurately so the three resorts arent that easily linked which is interesting in the normal foggy conditions (bring your goggles). Run signage needs to be increased.

Yes,the resort isn't overly steep but the terrain through the widely spaced trees makes up for it.

Furano review by SGM
I have skied at Furano over about 8 or 9 trips since 1989, with my last trip a few weeks ago. On each trip I have spent at least 4 or 5 days in the Furano resort. Without doubt the level of aggravation from the ski patrol reached a new height this year! This was the year where there seemed to be a big push by the Furano resort to get some of the Aussie business that Niseko has been

Rusutsu Resort review by Carl Brown
Skiing/boarding excellent with good off piste runs in the trees. Good snow record and generally well coordinated runs and lift links. One of the larger resorts.

As with most resorts in Japan:

- music on runs ruins the ambience;

- the ski school times are inconsiderate to the needs of skiing parents

- lift operators have no idea on how to control queues (can get busy if closures due to weather etc)

Niseko Hirafu is a powder snow factory. I guess this is the reason so many fellow Australians have made the pilgrimage to Hokkaido to discover how real powder feels. It is great value for money with the 3 main sections of Niseko providing plenty of variety. The off piste skiing is fantastic, with great rewards dealt to those who are willing to undertake a short walk. Its worth checking out the Miharashi Trees, Strawberry Fields, and Annupurri bowls for those

Niseko Village review by eagle
Back in Niseko after two years. Fond memories were somewhat disappointed. It is still a very pleasant place to be (especially on sunny days with lots of fresh powder), but has its downsides.

The ongoing separation between the various "resorts" on the mountain is hilarious. A lot of lifts are in need of upgrading. The whole place has an air of stinginess. The schedule of the shuttle bus is a joke: 90 minutes on average. The grooming of the slopes

Furano review by Deb
We would rate this resort as better for skiers who like some fast downhill piste runs, not snowboarders who like to hang amongst the trees.

We found the lack of tree-access really frustrating and almost criminal! Everything is roped off with big red KEEP OUT signs. We respected the local rules and did not go under the ropes (like some other aussies who ignore the rules and will invariably give the Australians a bad name. When in Rome...you know the rest.

If this hotel/resort is considered 5 star; then I feel it's overated. Great ski in/out facilities, but get across to other slopes is a hassle coz of the infrequent bus services.

Whilst the food in this resort is good but it's over priced; one can get just as good or better food over in Hirafu village.

I will stay there the next time for sure
