Yuzawa Nakazato review by ATM
We skied Nakazato in the afternoon and night with conditions altering between heavy snowfall, clouds and clearing, and mist after dark with snowfall returning. Except for occassional icy spots, conditions were good, with knee deep powder on several of the more challenging mogul runs.

Another review mentions the difficulty of the "one" night run, but when we were there a longer route avoiding difficult slopes was open and seemed within the grasp of most beginners. Actually, we found this resort

Fantastic snowpark, great runs, not too many beginners to get in the way.

Spa is way cool, nothing like sitting in an outdoor bath while the snow is falling around you... definitely coming back

This is a good place to go for a day trip, but it can get pretty crowded which is a bummer. The snow conditions were excellent, but the guys got really agro when I went through the trees - they threatened to take my lift ticket away so watch out for those patrol guys.

There are 2 pretty big jumps which are a lot of fun but hard to generate speed after the first one. Good luck with the coke-can rail!

GALA Yuzawa review by James Gowans
I would really advise anybody NOT TO GO TO THIS PLACE!!

I've been to many ski resorts in Niigata and this is easily the worst. The main reason for this is the crowds. First, one of my friends needed to rent a snowboard, and it took almost 1 and a half hours to get it done! Then, when we wanted lunch, we couldn't get it because there were absolutely no free tables, so had to settle for a crepe and a

Ishiuchi Maruyama review by knightvato
I have only been here for night skiing but I was impressed.

This has to be the biggest night skiing I've seen.

There is a lot of lifts, a lot to choose from, and some varied terrain. I was able to find my own powder pocket and tear through it over and over.

Made me pay for parking though at night. I recommend it for night skiing unless you want to stay in a small

Maiko Snow Resort review by cpnhowdy
First time out to Maiko. The area near the hotel has two lifts leading to some nice runs. The best runs are on the gondola side where you can find a beginner course that runs about 6km. At the top near the gondola are some fun runs but are all linked together by some flat areas.

Maiko was a nice resort and Id consider going again, fun to be had by all levels. ---

HOWEVER, the music

GALA Yuzawa review
I guess this place is one of the most popular resorts in Japan because it is accessible from Tokyo in 1 1/2 hour. Usually every season most of the travel agencies in Tokyo have a one day trip offer at really low cost. Keep in mind though that the resort itself is a bit expensive. As soon as you get of the train have 1000 yen on your hands for the lockers lol.

The Gala Yuzawa Shinkansen station actually serves both

Suginohara is great! Everyone should go.

The runs are very long, the snow on a snowy day is perfect, the runs arent too busy, there are lots of hot guys (no ski magic here!) and it is beautiful with fantastic views from all the runs from the very top to the bottom.

If you havent been yet....WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR

Kagura review by gonta
The best easy to get to off piste runs within reasonable driving distance of Tokyo. Snow conditions are always better than surround Numata / Yuzawa area slopes.

Excellent sauce katsu at Wadagoya.

Park in Mitsumata is shoddy and badly maintained but relatively empty, especially in the morning.

In terms of on piste, Tashiro has good cruising runs for beginners but the only advaced run is icey and not much fun so don't expect to be ripping down long groomers.

Due to the lack of
