Uber Deep Pow
I had been meaning to hit up Maiko for ages....I usually go to the higher Yuzawa resorts like Kagura. The snowfall has been crazy of late and right enough there is tons of pow everywhere!! This IS lower though so its not as light as at Kagura etc but good quality all the same. Easy access from Echigo Yuzawa, free shuttle bus that coincides with the Shinkansen arrival from Tokyo.

The upper left of the mountain is an ungroomed bowl

Tsugaike Kogen review
If I had not bought a 2-day Alpen pass while staying at Happo-one, I probably would have spurned Tsugaike in favour of its bigger, more famous neighbours but I am glad I got to check it out, albeit for one afternoon only. I took the free shuttle bus from Happo Information Centre and exchanged my Happo pass for a Tsugaike one, which caused a bit of confusion at the ticket booth but I was soon on my way up

My review of Happo-one - posted by Mick Rich
My first trip to Hakuba. Chose Happo-one purely because my accommodation was near the Happo gondola. First impressions were good unlike all the other Japanese ski resorts I have been to, Happo has a European alpine feel to it, presumably a throw-back to it hosting the 1998 Winter Olympics. In fact neither of the places I stayed in looked as though they had much done to them since the Olympics, which gave the place a bit of nostalgic

Hakuba Iwatake review
Having bought a 2-day Alpen pass at Happo-one, I decided to check out Iwatake (and Tsugaike Kogen).

I caught the first (8.20am) shuttle bus of the day from Happo Information Centre to Iwatake and was at the top of the gondola (and therefore the resort) by 8.50am. There was no new snow but I enjoyed exploring all of the runs (especially those on the back side) before they got too busy and chopped up. Not all of the

Beautiful views, great snow - posted by norcal
Went to this resort with a few friends a few weeks ago. We've never been to Myoko, but I heard it gets great snow. We were not dissapointed. Early on, the runs were great. Some off-course tree runs as well with some powder stashes too.

The resort itself is beautiful. There are fantastic views everywhere, definitely a must-see. However the great views are partially ruined by the repeated J-pop songs...which I only remember them playing 5 that day.....on a LOOP.

Miyagi Zao Eboshi review by Joey B
I've been to Eboshi several times. On a snowy day, it can be a lot of fun. Of course this is Miyagi, so it can easily warm up in the morning and in that case the conditions are not so hot.

This day I took my girlfriend here to learn to snowboard. The gondola is nice but the condition that high up were icy and wind blows off any incoming powder. Lower down the trails are beaten enough that its much
