A very good place to go skiing for the first time
We went to Iwappara this last week, luckily after the heavy snowfall.

My kids are learning to ski and this place really is probably the best place to do it. In this area of Japan anyway.

The wide middle area is gentle - and very wide. And on weekdays there's tons of space for everyone.

I headed up to the top area which is much more of a challenge and had fun up there. The snow was great.

Definitely recommend it for both

Let's Iwappara
Today I spent 4+ hours at Iwappara in Yuzawa.

Almost all of that time was spend exclusively at the top area and using just the top quad lift.

I can see why people say that Iwappara is perfect for beginners... it is. That many wide area in the middle of the resort I would say is about as good as you can get to learn on. Wide and gentle.

I quickly made my way up to the top quad and as I said

A return to Iwappara
I hadn't been to Iwappara for 10+ years and it was good to be back actually.

Last time I went the Gondola was still working, but it always felt kind of not needed so it's not a huge blow that it doesn't move any more.

I had heard that Number 1 Romance lift off to the right of the top area was closed for a season or two, but that it was back moving this season and indeed it was.

The two quads are the way to go
Iwappara is one of the oldest skijo in Yuzawa town.

I have been a few times, but this time was courtesy of the SnowJapan lift ticket Giveaway - thank you SnowJapan and Iwappara.

I went on a weekday and was quite surprised at how busy it was. Well, it wasn't BUSY but it there were quite a few people around enjoying themselves.

Iwappara as others have said is the perfect place for beginners. The main slope area is very wide quite

This was my first taste of boarding in Japan since moving to Tokyo, and my first go on my new setup.

My girlfriend is a beginner with new gear too, so it was a good place to warm up.

She enjoyed the simple, consistent runs and the space to turn and ractice carving, but it was a little dull for anyone more advanced, excepting the steeper run at the top with the ungroomed section being the most fun in the resort.

I visited iwaparra and I thought the runs were perfect for a beginner or a skier who wants to brush up his carving. The food is good with lots of election and it is cheap. The runs are so wide they don't seem busy and the lifts don't have long queues.

However an advanced skier would get bored in an hour most. There is no park and not many advanced runs (except the large mogul run at the top) The

This resort hadn't been reviewed in awhile so thought I'd give my two cents. I went on a holiday that fell on a WED, which could be comparable to going on a SUN. I agree with the consensus that this is a good resort for beginners and/or a relaxing day for experienced boarders. That doesn't mean it wasn't fun.

There is plenty of room on the one main (and very wide) run to avoid newbies or teach your newbie friends if

This is where I learned to snowboard, so I will always remember this place. Since then I've been back every year. This last year I was good enough to go into the snow park. What a blast. Even better than Happo one's snow park. Although the resort isn't all that big, it can take all day to transverse all the slopes.

All in all I love this resort

Iwappara is a great place to take someone who is just learning to ski or board or if you want to have a relaxing day on the slopes. It has great wide runs that allow everyone a lot of room to move about or you can head further up the hill to have for more of a challenge.

The staff are very good, and ensure a great day

Iwappara is a really great place if you are a beginner, and maybe one of the best resorts out there - the main middle course is very wide and gentle.

If you are intermediate level and looking for a challenge there is less to enjoy but it still has a few good courses near the top and to the right. If you can get to the top before it becomes a huge area of massive moguls, all the better!

I spend Christmas in Yuzawa, teaching my girlfriend how to snowboard.

The first day of our 4-day trip was in Iwappara.

I chose this place because it is perfect for the complete beginner.

Really wide not very steep main area, with good coverage of lifts and not very busy even on weekends.

We arrived there after an 80 cm dump and it was still snowing all day. Although I spent most of my time in the main gelende, I had some really nice runs
