I had been planning to save Minowa for later in the season after their snow monsters have developed, but they had two of their three lifts running and the kid was up for trying somewhere new, so that is where we started our season.
The first real snowfall of the season was just winding down when we arrived, and visibility up top was not great at first, but what could be seen was nice and white.
This place is small and a bit low key, families, lots of kids, skiers in skin tight lycra suits etc.
Having said that, the facilities are good, lifts well laid out and for a Saturday this place was empty.
The scenery here is amazing, the trees at the top of the mountain get smattered with snow and form snow monsters. There's heaps of fun to be had off course in the trees at this place. We cut fresh tracks all

Minowa, last years destination wasn't exactly the easiest place to find but not every thing can go your way. Maybe it was the fact that I was driving and having Japanese back seat drivers who all think north was south. Maybe its my Japanese.
Anyway Minowa is inpressive but it did lack something. There are less facilities though car parking is a plenty.
The slopes were terrific with many avenues to explore. I cant help but think that there are more skiers
Made my second trip to this little resort this year over the weekend (23 FEB 02). It is a quite enjoyable resort. All the accomodations are pretty modern. It is enough off the beaten path that the majority of the crowd is locals. Both time I have gone on the weekend and never had to wait in lift lines. Snow conditions have been good but the top of the mountain seems to get a lot of wind.
