Geihoku has the advantage of being very easy to get to. The road is usually good and it's rare to have to put on chains. The down side to this is the snow. When it's good it's just OK, when it's bad it's really bad. They do have a good selection of tickets available at a reasonable price. The slopes have a tendancy to get a bit crowded (especially on Sunday), but overall if you're looking for a fun day

Geihoku Kokusai review by Mackall
Under new management in 2005, changes are to be expected, but from first glance, not in a good way.

Most visible is very poor restaurant service replacing excellent offerings from seasons past -- sparse menus, barely edible routine truck stop fare, or worse. Kids remarked not even any hot chocolate, most drink, etc. machines weren't operating, in-resort convenience store closed. Poor slope maintenance (the snow hoses were blowing all over the place, unrestrained, on several occasions), still, has

This is a good place to improve your technique if you are a goodish boarder. However, if you are high pushing on expert then you will probably manage to ride every run within half a day, no matter how big they say the place is. The only bonus will come from really easily available powder. Of course this is generally off piste so at your own risk.

Geihoku Kokusai review by Ichiro
Geihoku Kokusai is advertised as the premere ski area within Hiroshima prefecture with Daisen its only rival in scale.

Good news first, larger(est?) mountain compared to Osorakan Ski Area, 191, Mizuho Highland (I know it's in Shimane Pref.) with high speed lifts abound within the boundries of Hiroshima Prefecture.

Access is pretty straight forward. Not as close to a interchange offramp as Shimane Pref. Mizuho Highland, then again not the death -defying one-way (really) drive up and down narrow road

This was a great mountain to ski. With two facing faces theres lots of terrain to play with. Some bottlenecks and inconvenient traverses back to the base lodge hold this ski area back, but overall, some great skiing for Hiroshima-ken. Three stars on the yogi scale.
