If you are in Osaka-Nagoya region, this is where you want to head
Dynaland-Takasu Snow Park is one of the resort areas in the Gujo area of Gifu and a new discovery for me.

These two are are connected and share a joint ticket (I don't even know if you can buy seperate ones), but it's about the same cost as a ticket elsewhere.

Makes for a really big area, though personally I preferred the Dynaland side... felt the snow was better over there on the day I went. The ungrommed area of Champion

Good time to go to Ciao
With a coupon the wife and I got tickets for 3000 plus a meal voucher. Actually they accidentally gave us two of those so I paid 3000 for a ticket and 2000 in meal vouchers...!

Parking was free. Not many cars in the lot when I cruised in at 9AM...

It was a beautiful day, cold and clear. The snow was hard pack but very easy to ride, not chunky or icy.

With so few people, Ciao is a great place to teach

Early open with one lift and powder; regular open with unfortunate conditions
Meihou opened on the weekend of the 13-14th even though the season starts on the 19th. There has been so much snow, it opened the bottom lift with tickets for ¥2500 and parking was free (I'm not sure if it usually is).

When I got there, there was 30 cm of powder. It was snowing but the slope looked groomed. I had no idea what to expect so I was pretty disappointed when I got to the top of the lit

Great Day trip for Kansai people
This resort hasn't been reviewed for awhile so here is a fresh one.

So I made my first trip to Dynaland ever not really knowing what to expect. My expectations were pretty low at first because this winter I had been to so many great resorts like Furano, Niseko, Hakuba and Zao. But to my surprise Dynaland really provided me and my friend with a really great day.

Me and my friend live in Osaka and and with weather getting warmer we

A nice ski area
I really enjoyed Meihou.

At first I was a little worried about a lack of a good variety of terrain as there are only 12 trails. However, those concerns were alleviated as I took the lift up for the first run. The mountain actually has a great variety ranging from kind of steep, heavily moguled runs, fairly wide blues for carving, and a long cruising run for beginners. The expert runs all had moguls but you can take a break

Meihou review by joni-san
Most people are either beginners on the lower lift or beginner- intermediate on the quad to the top. These are the busiest area but both have singles lines so don't have to wait long. Other lifts and runs not very busy.

A bit crowded in places. This general area is very popular with people from Nagoya and Osaka. Not many foreigners go here. Don't think I saw any last time apart from my friend. Some interesting terrain and small hits if

Dynaland review by David James
For a day trip from Kansai the new combined pass for Dynaland and Takasu (two resorts are linked half-way up the mountain) gives a better variety of slopes than anywhere else in the Kansai / Chubu regions.

The snow at Dynaland was melting after lunch, whereas Takasu was holding out due to being on the shade.

I had a great day and will return in early 2010

Winghills Shirotori Resort review by Pezby
I went with a friend who had never 'boarded before as the brochure said they had mostly beginner runs. Not true. The runs were at least intermediate and even then they would be tricky.

The conditions were very icy and we got a full refund and went to Takasu.

Takasu was great and we had a good day.

I would never go back to Winghills,, nor would I recommend the place to anyone.

Go to Takasu instead

Takasu Snow Park review
Took the night bus from Kyoto and ended up there early in the morning. Got our stuff, lift tickets, and headed out. Bathrooms were incredibly crowded with all those who had just gotten off the bus. Changing rooms were closet-sized. Rentals were good quality and in good condition.

Early in the morning it was not all that crowded and we were able to get some good runs in. The restaurant at the top was

Takasu Snow Park review
Although it only took 2 hours to get there form Kyoto, it took nearly 6 hours to get back. Traffic was a nightmare. A single lane road to to the highway with 5 other ski resorts emptying their parking lots onto this road at the same time (we left at 3pm to try to beat the traffic) made this trip seem a lot worse than it actually was.

The mountain is good, good variety of terrain for varying abilities, and lots

Takasu Snow Park review by snowgirl from canada
Great compared to other resorts like mt heavens and araragana (nagano prefecture). Runs are long enough.

Tough to know which run you want unless you can read katakana.

Went down champion run which was a mistake since i'm only a beginner.

Survived with a few bruises so no big complaint really

This is by far the smallest resort I've been to, but it was good fun for at least half a day, especially after fresh snowfall.

Because it's such a small resort, there isn't the competition for pow. And despite there being only three lifts, the run down from the top lift offers some challenges
