Awesome birthday
Thanks to snowjapan we had a free lift ticket for hakuba goryu.

We spent my partners birthday there and it was a great day.

Goryu and 47 are joining mountains and over great terrain choices.

We found pockets of fresh in a bowl up top cause the top hadn't been open the day before. Great surprise for a day without fresh snowfall.

Great resort (with 47) which became awesome after big dumps
My wife's favourite as it has perhaps the flattest of flat greens and we were greeted by a Kamashiko on the first run one morning on the green that winds down to 47 base.

Son (boarder) loved the Snow Park

Daughter loved E1 red.

Bit disappointed that the adventure course above Goryu was not open as I have fond memories of it from last year.

Hit some great powder on the sides of E2 & E3 at 47 during and after some heavy

My choice in the Hakuba region
I used to favor Happo-one, but recently changed to spending more time at Hakuba Goryu (and 47). Moguls put me off Happo, I think there's too many of them and they seem to be 'growing'!

Goryu-47 though is a fine area to spend a day or two, beginners stay on the lower areas while I head up to Grand Prix, Panorama, Dynamic and Expert... basically the runs up top.

Usually stick there but sometimes take a mosey on down

Great family skiing!
Arriving early on the shuttle, we were excited to be making some first trails this snowy morning. Being Australian skiers we do not often have the opportunity to enjoy days like this. Our party was two teenagers- one skiing, one boarding and a skiing mum who are good intermediate riders. The gondola didn't open till after 10 but we had a fun time moving across the lower chairs of the mountain. The snow was fresh and piling up around us.

Springtime in Goryu!
In 2012 I made 2 March trips to Goryu and was lucky enough to score powder days both times. On this occasion I was not so lucky but still had a good time at what is becoming one of my favourite resorts. First off, thanks to SJ and Hakuba Goryu resort for the free ticket – very much appreciated!

This trip I was on beginner-teaching duty, so the majority of my time was spent on the lower slopes in the Toomi

Pick of the Hakuba ski-jo
Been to Hakuba Goryu / 47 quite a few times and always enjoy going back.

For me, Goryu is the pick of the resorts in the Hakuba valley. Good selection of courses, snow conditions and... well, to me that's what's important. I always check out the 47 area when I go - they are on the same ticket - but usually probably spent 3/4 of the day at Goryu.

Favorite thing is getting there for opening and to the

Let's Hakuba Goryu
I'd read some good things about Hakuba Goryu (and neighbouring Hakuba 47) but when I planned a mid-March trip, I wasn't expecting the snow to be so good. I was therefore pleasantly surprised (and very lucky) to arrive at Kamishiro station in the middle of a snowstorm!!

Apparently it had been snowing all day though the visibility on the mountain hadn't been great. Early doors on Tuesday and there was some unexpected sunshine on the newly-formed snow monsters in the

Hakuba Goryu review by Emily
Loved the resort - so quiet compared to European Alps we're used to - but what really made it was the excellent service and great deal at Hotel MontBlanc.

Souza is a star, the hotel has easy slope access and the deal (acccom, meals, gear hire, ski pass) was great value - brilliant for us as part of a big trip so trying not to spend European levels of cash on skiing.

NB. Review aimed at beginners ---> early intermediates.

Hakuba 47/goryu will forever be embedded in my head as the place I learned to carve. "What the heck has this blog beginning got to do with a review of the place as a whole?" I hear you grumble. Well I'll tell you. In one word: Space. In 5: Loads and loads of it.

It's the end of the season, people are bored or just fearing the worst and avoiding it. Either way,

Hakuba Goryu review by Brett Dennis
After being jaded at Happo, Goryu was a welcome change. Being among the first up and enjoying some warp speed runs on fresh groomers at Iimori certainly helped cheer me up.

On arrival the whole place just seemed to work much better, more was acheived with less lifts, less intrusive mountain engineering and more diverse runs.

Admittedly, when the tops lifts were closed due to weather, it turned into a madhouse about midday on the main section of the Toomi area, but

Hakuba Goryu review by Mike44
It will be a shorter season than last year, snow is in short supply and once the morning sun hits it it can become quite soft and slushy, by the end of the day the ground is showing in many places and stones get thrown up.

Goryu is advertising itself as having 2.2 Meters of snow - how they can get away with this blatant lie is beyond me I estimate there to be no more than 1 meter or
