Huge contrast compared to last year.

This warm spell has not been kind to the mountain. Worst snow I've seen in the last 5 years. Lower slopes have barely any cover and the top is not much better.

Fingers crossed that it dumps in February

Seymour didn't have a good opening weekend. A staff member was hit by a piston bully so they closed the WHOLE mountain. Rumour has it she broke her femur. Only other resort open was Ichirino so they were packed BUT the gondola wasn`t running. Only 1 lift was working so they let everyone use it for free.

Things improved later in the season but the staff were not prepared for the heavy snowfall and the avalanche conditions this presented. Top

These guys weren't prepared at the start of the season and caught with their pants down when Seymour closed.

Some great off piste to be had if you use a bit of imagination. Word of warning: ski patrol take a very dim view of people dropping in under the gondola.

Like all resorts in Ishikawa, can have awesome days and then awful ones. Another common feature is grooming the life out of the runs so that they are hard as concrete.

Great onsen

Living close to the Hakusan ski areas this is one of my favourite places to visit.

The beginners run down to the car park can get really icey and be no fun at all. However, if you`re confident enough, you can cut under the lifts and enjoy great powder while zipping in and out of trees.

Well worth a look

I love this place! Last season, there was powder everywhere!

Had some unbelievable days boarding. As they were during heavy snow days most of the locals were tucked up inside, so we had the mountain to ourselves. Off piste is the way to go.

The beginners course is very tame. I've actually seen newbies walking as the run is so flat they ran out of speed!

I'm hoping for the same luck with the snow this year

Very icy conditions.

Way too many people for a weekday. Lots of kids...I mean lots! Lots of old skiers taking up all the room. There was a little bit of fun to be had off piste (a little powder).

Decent facilities is the only redeeming feature this time around

A surpsisingly good course for something so close to Kanazawa and the sea. this year the snow lasted well until the end of March. Of course it is in Ishikawa - the precipitation belt of Japan.

I would have to disagree with Gillian though that it is a bad place to learn. I learnt there and was an incredibly slow learner but still found the course an excellent level. However there is something for everyone.

Boarders are now, like

We took our two kids, beginners, there as we were staying in the area.

For beginners it's the best resort in Ishikawa with the the 3000m raku-raku run from the gondola station giving beginers some real sense of achievement.

For others there are plenty of higher level runs but avoid days when it rains. Onsen is an excellent way to finish of the day.

This place really can be alot of fun. Although it is fairly limited in terms of on-piste stuff - only good for beginner to intermediate riders, there is enough off-piste action to keep anyone interested.

After a decent snowfall there are countless runs underneath the gondola with good powder, lots off natural bowls and heaps of nice jumps and bumps. Just be careful of the avalanche barriers and holes that pop up now and again.

Ichirino also has a little park which

Great place to live near.

About 20km from Kanazawa IC, this resort offers a surprisingly large choice in runs and often has good snow. The resort is still skier only - sorry boarding-dudes - and is really well suited to intermediate skiers.....lots of choice there for you.

Beginners will not be too happy at this resort, so stay away or if you do go - stay at the bottom. For those within easy reach, check it out!

I guess I have been spoiled by the real snow in Niigata because this was one of the worst times I have had snowboarding or should I call it, "Slushboarding"? It was so seemingly dangerous I wound up staying at the bottom slope the whole time.

Maybe it is due to a mild winter but my board was all over the place. The resort itself is pretty relaxing unless you park in the first parking lot below the resort and
