Miyagi Zao Eboshi

Nice resort easy to get to from Sendai
This resort was easily accessible by booking a shuttle bus and lift ticket package from the Sendai Tourist Information Desk at Sendai Station for 5,400 yen. The mountain has a similar set up to others around the region like Spring Valley and Sumikawa.

This is a small resort that doesn't offer too much terrain, but enough for a quick day trip. Chairlift F is where you will find the most interesting challenging terrain, and just beside, chairlift E will give you

Miyagi Zao Eboshi review by Joey B
I've been to Eboshi several times. On a snowy day, it can be a lot of fun. Of course this is Miyagi, so it can easily warm up in the morning and in that case the conditions are not so hot.

This day I took my girlfriend here to learn to snowboard. The gondola is nice but the condition that high up were icy and wind blows off any incoming powder. Lower down the trails are beaten enough that its much

Onikoube review by Sang
I've been to Onikoube fours times so far in the 2010 season and the conditions varied each time. The first time was decent with a nice amount of snow and only intermittent ice patches. The second time was extremely snowy and had frequent whiteouts. The third and fourth time was very icy, which meant pain during every fall.

The resort itself is on the small side, but it's cheap and a one day pass comes with a 1,000 yen food voucher

Miyago Zao Sumikawa Snow Park review by shusha
Sumikawa is awesome for a day's boarding. It's convenient to Sendai, and if you don't have a car they operate a bus/lift ticket package for 4000yen from Sendai Station (phone bookings required).

I've been there through all conditions, but overall it's very nice, none too crowded, the back country is fantastic & and the SBX course is nice with options for boarders of different levels.

On a cold clear day, nothing can beat it

Miyagi Zao Sumikawa Snow Park review
I got there at 7.45am wanting to be first up the mountain - says it opens at 8am. BS. Hanging around till 9am when it actually opened!

Nice friendly place. Top third is steep and has some powder and tree runs. Bottom two thirds is flat as a pancake. makes the resort really small, just hitting the same runs over and over. That said if there is powder it's awesome, steep backcountry feeling and no patrols / no roped off areas

Onikoube review by Shusha
This is my favorite resort in Japan.

It beats every place in Iwate, Miaygi and Yamagata that I've been including Appi.

I've been going to Onikobe all through 2005/2006 and this weekend was reinforced by an awesome weekend. Stayed at one of the pensions as part of the resort and was first up the mountain both days. The park seems under used but there are some jumps to do, a box and rails. Some nice wide runs for

Miyagi Zao Sumikawa Snow Park review by Ro
My only real valid complaint about this place is that the lifts are slow. You got to ride three lifts to get to the top and by the time you get there you're a popsicle. But don't let that discourage you.. there is more than enough fun to be had. Is there off course in Sumikawa? ...it hardly seemed like it. Ski patrols just ride around in their snow mobiles for looks I think. Top

Spring Valley Izumi Kogen review by shusha
This is my second review and at least 15th time here. I just want to review it for January 2007.

The lack of snow this season has been a problem and itvshows here too. Although it's now up to 100cm there was not a single jump that was open and there are a lot less jumps, bumps and countoring overall than last year - when there were some nice selection dotted around.

Today all the tables were closed and the

Only 30 minutes from Izumi Chuo.

A well run resort, busy, but what popular resort isn't.

Pity it closes when there is still snow about and people willing to spend their yen

Miyagi Zao Sumikawa Snow Park review by towno
A day at Sumikawa was supposed to be the sideline on a 3 day trip to Zao but ended up being the highlight of the trip, besides our penshon Mama's apple pie that is. It certainly helped to have beautiful weather all days and superb views of the surrounding hills. Another big plus was the friendly and relaxed lift staff, no grumpy farmers to rope off everything interesting. There were plenty of natural features to keep this

Miyagi Zao Eboshi review by towno
One word sums up this decent sized resort on the less glamorous side of Zao, and that's potential.

The resort is well laid out with a gondola halfway up the hill and then chairs to the top. There are a number of ways down which suit a range of skill levels, from a gentle run all the way down to some mogulled up steeps to challenge those who rate themselves.

Unfortunately all the interesting stuff is out of

Spring Valley Izumi Koge review
Okay, so this is the second time that I've been snowboarding, so anything at the moment is great. It was a bit of a hassle that the bus didnt go up to the top, but from next week it will be. Its greatest asset is that it is easy to get there and doesnt take to long.

The beginner slope was great to learn on and take a few tumbles, however there were a million other people on this slope also
