Icy icy all the way up
Rode the course from the very top of the mountain. I'll start out by saying that there were some very challenging runs with a very steep black level (not sure if its considered up to double black standard) route at the very top that surprised me given the relative size of the resort. A fun little resort with good snow
Well I flicked through the list of ski jo's for Nagano and decided on Echo valley in Nagawa area of Nagano, about 25k from Suwa, one because I had never been there and wanted to go somewhere I had never been before, two it was close, just over an hour door to door on the little roads and three it had some reasonably steep terrain.

Blanche Takayama Ski Resort review by Antony
Skier only resort!

If you live in the Chubu area of Nagano prefecture this has to be the best offering for those with easy, day-return access to the Lake Shirakabako area (good altitude hence good snow for region).

Great for a fun day out burning lactic acid in the thighs or simply having fun with the family. Stunning views from the summit.

Pure tree-lined, self-indulgent bliss during weekdays, not too busy at the weekend.

As a 'local' resort Echo Valley is pretty good. It's great for an afternoon's riding. It has two quite clearly defined areas, one of which has a very steep, ungroomed run. With no new snow, it can be horrific, but with a layer of powder on the moguls it's a great run.

There's a bit of action to be had in the woods at the edges, but not much.

The park has some big kickers and table tops, waves, and long
