Togari Onsen review by chikumango
We got sold on this place because there was a great package deal that included transport, lift ticket and lunch. When we arrived we soon discovered we were not the only people aware of the cheap deals.

It was extremely difficult to make it down the mountain without nearly running into people. The bottom of the mountain near one of the lifts had a bit of a bottleneck which did not help.

The snow quality was fair but nothing spectacular.

Togari is a 15 minute drive from Nozawa Onsen.

There is a shuttle bus from Togari station to the resort but it's not very regular. We ended up walking from the station, which took 30 mins.

There's no gondola (biggest lift is a quad) but the resort is larger than I'd expected. Interesting ungroomed terrain is easily accessed from the pistes. It was snowing on slightly heavy, old powder and mostly a white-out when I was there. That and arriving a

A mate of mines booked us on an overnight bus trip to Togari Onsen, Nozawa's little brother. He booked it because it was cheap and included lunch and an onsen (7000 yen). When we got there it was in the middle of this short thaw we seem to have just now, but there was loads of snow all round the area, no bare patches on the hill and oodles around the village.

In the morning the groomers were icy and

Togari Onsen review by jakeboarder
We arrived in Togari Onsen just after a night of snow fall, and so had great snow conditions.

One slope wasn't even treated at all and offered so complete pure powder - very cool. Also, there's quite a bit of opportunity to get off-slopes without getting caught... I'd say there was a 50-50 split between snowboarders and skiers, but most boarder were beginners.

Not very crowded, except for Sundays (long lines at the lifts). Togari Onsen has 2 sides from

A decent alternative to the more popular nearby Nozawa Onsen, this resort has a number of decent courses and is recommended on weekends when it's bigger brother nearby can get busy.

Togari Onsen review (submitted before 2003)
Located near to the ever-popular (and rightly-so) Nozawa Onsen, this place is smaller and overshadowed by Nozawa.

However, it doesn't get busy and is fairly decent. Definitely an alternative to Nozawa for maybe half a day or a day.

If you go to that region for a number of days I recommend of course Nozawa to take up most of your time, but this place and also Kijimadaita as a backup and alternative.
