better than you might think!!
Living in Toyama I have always been a bit hesitant to ski here because of the close proximity to Niigata and Nagano.

After four years now I have been there a handful of times and have a new found respect for the mounatins. When it snows the place actually rocks.

Tons of fresh pow all over the mountain and no ski patrol in sight.

Under and to the right of the Gondala and the trees in Gokurakazaka are highly

Good Skiing Mid-January On
Looks like the first review was actually of a backcountry spot. Since this resorts only 40 min. away from me, I thought I'd put up a review.
The actual resort has several free parking lots and no rope tows. Your lift pass actually gets you up three connected mountains. The middle mountain, Gokurakuzaka, has some good tree skiing off the main lift, and it's mostly untouched by the local skiiers. You can either hike up (15 min) off the top lift

IOX-AROSA review
Hey, I dont know if I was lucky or if it's a regular thing, but the night I skied there was amazing! Lots of fresh snow, and still falling!! No crowds, or even line ups, and this was the February long weekend.

The base restaurant had good food for very reasonable prices. My friends and I were very full for about 800yen.

Night skiing is a bargain here at 2500yen, lots of places to slide and you

Gotta give it 4 cos I live close and ski there all the time.

Never seen much of a line at night skiing and usually can find some powder. If you look hard for it. Terrain park is getting better. Good for learning in the TP

Tateyama Sanroku review
This ski hill is located on the Murodo Plain in the Tateyama area.

To get to it you have to either come from Nagano or Toyama Prefectures. It is expensive coming from either side although much cheaper from Toyama. Just over 4000 yen round trip. Private vehicles are not permitted. The lift serviced vertical is about 100 metres and is serviced by a difficult rope tow. Painful for skiers and difficult for snowboarders.

I personally wouldn't pay to ski at

IOX-AROSA review by Pat
This is a definately a boarder oriented resort as the upper half of the mountain has loads of rails, jumps, and a couple of half pipes.

It may be a small mountain but there is no lack of terrain.

It also has night skiing until 8pm Fri-Sun and on holidays.

Less than an hour east of Kanazawa.

IOX-AROSA is a small resort, but it is good for a day trip from Takaoka, Toyama.

There are runs for all levels and beautiful views of Mt. Tateyama on a clear day.

If you need to warm yourself up for the season or practice your skills, this is the place to go!
