A top & large ski resort in Japan.

Good slopes, snow perfect, weather very good.

For a first time ski trip, the resort was great. We stayed at Villa Alpen, whose staff gave us good lessons at a good price.

It was a great place to learn, with good beginner slopes, and many alternatives to chose from.

Would go again.

Went there early season. Seemed to be a distinct lack of steep slopes.

The slopes were also pretty short. I'd like to check it out sometime in mid season to see what the off piste is like but it looked like the trees were a bit tight for that.

Anyway, I'd go for Hakuba if you're into challenging powder riding
