Wow. Just wow.
I can't say enough good things about Niseko United, and specifically the Annupuri side. I've been riding in Japan for three seasons and I've never experienced anything quite like this. We spent a half a day on the Grand Hirafu side and then went over to Annupuri and never looked back.

Grand Hirafu was slightly crowded; not terrible, for the time of year, but crowded nonetheless. Annupuri was basically empty. No wait time for the lifts, no congestion on the runs,

So much Powder!
Using one of the day passes I won in a giveaway from SnowJapan, we had an amazing time at Annupuri.

Every day there was plenty of fresh, light powder to ski. I can't say I've ever experienced better conditions.

Heading skier's right off of the "bubble chair" quad at Annupuri resulted in untracked lines through the trees all day long.

I can't wait to get back

Great Powder
The whole resort is well set up and easy to move through out the whole Niseko United Ski Area.

The way the gates are set up for the off piste runs is really good if the gates are open get out there (Still take care) and if they are closed then it is for good reason.

Night skiing is also really good with such a large ski area lit up.

This trip is the 3rd time I have been to Niseko and will

Crowded paradise
I have been smowboarding at Niseko since 1999 and have spent the last 5 seasons (Jan & Feb) there. The snow quantity and quality is often superb and if you have a large enough window you are sure to get good bottomless powder. I would like to make 2 points.

Firstly, if you only have a window of 7-10 days you are not guaranteed excellent snow and/or conditions. The last 2 seasons in particular have seen long dry spells in both

Great Place for Snowboarding
There is a 5000m green ride for beginner and for them to spend a whole day there to practice.

The snow is soft and with fresh snow all the time.

The cafe locations are great for people to get rest there.

Powder Powder Powder
I went to Moiwa recently, on a Sunday when there had been 20cm's of snow and then again 2 days later when there had been 15cm's of snow. It was mind blowing! I went a few years ago for the first time and it was a windy, white-out kind of day, but I had fun accessing the tree lines and mellow runs from the back of the pair lift (lift B). But when I returned there recently and the weather

Great Pow!!
This is a pretty good mountain.

It gets a little crowded sometimes, but not like Hirafu.

Wide open slopes with pow staches all over the edges and throught the trails until afternoon.

The best part of this mountain is the access to the gates. When they open it rocks. Good tree runs, wide open bowls, full of knee to waist deep pow

Let's Moiwa!
The second day into a 1-week stay at Niseko Annupuri and it’s a full-on powder day. I therefore decided to escape the Chinese New Year crowds and head over to neighbouring Moiwa, the smallest of the Niseko resorts and one that I’d heard lots of good things about.

I arrived just after 9am to find people already heading up to join the queue for the quad lift, which doesn’t usually open until 9.30. There are 3 lifts at Moiwa. Looking

Spectacular views from Niseko
I was expecting to have a deep powder experience during my first ski trip to Hokkaido, but little snow fell during my 4 day visit. It's kind of ironic that Kanto got walloped while I was up north. Nevertheless, the snow was good and the weather mostly clear.

The scenery was great. Ezo Fuji is a gorgeous volcano and the plume of steam rising from Showa Unzen was clearly visible, as was the Sea of Japan.

The high speed triple

Niseko Village Ski Resort review by James McLean
There were eight adults in our group from Australia. We chose to stay in comfortable apartment-style accommodation (Casi67). We have all skied previously in Australia, NZ, Canada, USA, Austria, Poland and Switzerland. This was our first trip to Japan.

The instructions for transfers were accurate and easy to follow. The transfer to Casi67 was prompt and straightforward. On arrival we felt welcomed and the apartment was immaculate. The property is new and comfortable with all amenities. The towels and sheets were

This past trip was my third trip in as many years. The snow is very dry and deep and consistent. Skiing at Christmas (early season) is a bit of a gamble but I would put my money on Niseko over any other place in the world to have good snow at that time of year. This year was especially awesome, with already about a 2 meter base in the village, and fresh snow almost every day.
