Shokawa Kogen is located in Takayama in Gifu Prefecture, just to the north of the popular ski resorts in Gujo city.
Gifu Prefecture is located in the Chubu region of the central region of Honshu island, and it one of only a handful of landlocked prefectures. It shares borders with (from the north) Toyama, Nagano, Aichi, Mie, Shiga, Fukui and Ishikawa. Most of the ski and snowboard resorts in Gifu are located in the northern region of the prefecture – in Gujo city, Takayama city, Hida city and Shirakawa village.

Shokawa Kogen is 6km from the Shokawa IC exit on the Tokai Hokuriku Expressway.
From the IC exit turn left onto Route 156. After just less than 4.5km turn right to head up the base of the ski hill.
At the time of writing (mid May), almost all ski resorts in Japan have closed for the 2016-2017 season.
