Hachimantai Resort Shimokura is located in Hachimantai city in the north-western region of Iwate Prefecture. It is close to Hachimantai Resort Panorama - the runs are not actually physically connected, but the resorts share a lift ticket and there is a free shuttle bus service between the two resort areas.
Iwate Prefecture is located in the Tohoku region of the main island of Honshu. Morioka is the capital city. Most of the ski and snowboard hills in Iwate Prefecture are located in the western mountainous regions, near to the border with Akita Prefecture. Aomori Prefecture is to the north and Miyagi Prefecture is to the south of Iwate.

From the Matsuo Hachimantai IC exit, take the Prefecture Road 45 south to get to the resort area.
