Makinoiri Snow Park
the located on the northern slopes of Mt Kosha in Yamanouchi town, in the north-eastern region of Nagano Prefecture.
It has had a bit of an on-off and confusing status in recent years! Makinoiri Snow Park was to be part of the branded 'Mt Kosha' plan that included five ski hills and a joint lift ticket. But then it was closed for a handful of seasons. And then it part re-opened for the 2016-2017 season with two lifts were operating!
The big ‘Mt Kosha’ concept seems to have fractured: Makinoiri Snow Park and Kita Shinshu Kijimadaira
are now both operating independently; X-JAM Takaifuji
and Yomase Onsen
offer a joint ticket; and Yamabiko-no-oka
is apparently closed for 2017-2018.
Nagano Prefecture is located in the Chubu region of the main island of Honshu. Most of the Northern Alps, Central Alps and Southern Alps are located within Nagano (along with neighbouring prefectures). Nagano has the second highest number of ski and snowboard resorts in all of Japan and they are spread around the whole prefecture. Nagano city and many of the major ski resorts are located in the northern region.
