It is a classic Furano morning. The blue skies stretch from the ski area across town to the Daisetsuzan mountains. It is a truly beautiful vista so be sure to click some photos.

Overnight there has been a dusting of new snow. The clear conditions should stay through the day and then Thursday and Friday some snow is expected. While the piste conditions are still what I would call good overall, we are in need of a good dump to reset the snow pack. There are some thin areas where stones are being churned up by the volumes of skiers sliding across them. One avid reader correctly pointed out that not all courses are open - this is true and we have 22 out of 23 courses open at my quick count. The closed course is Giant on Kitanomine, which has natural water run off towards the lower part of the course and this always takes time to fill in - with a lot less snow this year this hasn't filled in yet and some ground is exposed.

Sunny days like this are a gem, so best to get out early and make the most of it.
