A beautiful day today. Blue skies and clear as far as the eye can see. Conditions on the mountain are great on the groomers. The snow yesterday was very fast and perfect for a groomer day. There is a significant change in the make up of guests on the mountain at the moment, as Japanese guests are notoriously lacking in the first 10 days of February. International guests are now the majority in the Furano Ropeway on a few occasions throughout the day.

Heavy snow for about 2 hours yesterday afternoon brought hopes of a powder day today, but the snow subsided around 7pm last night and left us just 5cm in the village, with probably a bit more up top.

Kuma Otoshi is tracked out. The 2 10minute openings per day have meant the snow has lasted longer than normal, but with no new snow in the last 3 days it is now a bit bumpy.

Tonight is a Maiko Welcoming Party. The Maiko (Geisha in training) girls are here for a special reciprocal promotion between Kyoto and Furano and they are stunning and very rare to have the opportunity to see. If you have a chance, make sure you get a ticket from the Furano Tourism Association for tonight’s 6pm party.
