Once again a cloudy day in Hakuba...but quite a bit colder and it has started to snow very lightly here. The base of the valley still is bone dry and snow-less but the upper slopes still have great spring conditions. One can ski to the bottom on Happo-One to the Gondola but be warned there are patchy spots. Wind is light from the NW and most of the upper peaks are obscured by clouds. Visibility may be limited above 1000m.

Backcountry Travel Advisory:

Poor visibility today will probably impede travel in the backcountry today. Colder temperatures should have solidified/refrozen the wet/slushy snowpack of yesterday. Expect some blowing snow and cooler temperatures atop the peaks today. As like yesterday spring is a good time to see glide cracks in the snow where a deep fracture will open up in areas of tension. You don't want to end up in one of those. Other hazards to look out for are rock fall from cliff faces and subsequent debris on top of the snow.
