Hello and good morning from Hakuba.

A fine day weather wise yesterday, and that sea of clouds in the morning was cool. Conditions were warm and spring like.

And it's another fine spring like morning again today with a mix of cloud and blue skies and temperatures forecast to rise to around 12C in the village this afternoon.

The snow melt has continued and some lower resort courses close to base now have areas of ground showing through.

Fresh snow please...

This time tomorrow hopefully it will be much colder and snow will be falling, though whether it will be giri-giri (borderline) rain at base remains to be seen. It should be snowing higher up on the mountains though at least and from tomorrow until at least the weekend scattered snow showers (or more) are forecast. So there's reasons to be hopeful for a refresh in the coming days.

I'm remaining cautiously optimistic about it all (and of course hope to be pleasantly surprised).

I will keep you updated.
