Hakuba is currently sitting under a high cloud bank that covers all the upper portions of the ski hills. Very light rain and somewhat chilly at the base today and you can expect some precip in the form of snow at higher elevations. Visibilty is not great atop the peaks today so take it easy on the slopes out there. Watch for bare patches if you skiing on ungroomed runs. Wind is light from the NE today and more light snow is expected this evening.

Avalanche Hazard:

Above tree line: Considerable

Tree line: Moderate

Below tree line: Low

Backcountry Travel Advisory:
Not a particularily great day for backcountry travel, but if you are heading out take care as the poor visibility and new snow atop old spring slush could make more technical descents a bit treacherous.
A shallow snowpack over bushes, rock outcroppings and bamboo (sasa) will be more likely to slide. Also take care in convex areas as there may be glide cracks formed and big holes in the snow. Wet, moisture laden snow will be more likely to slide on steep faces and this may also loose rocks/debris onto unwary travellers, so be careful under steep rock faces and cliffs.
