Resuming transmission here in Hakuba. As for the current state of play, 47 is still open top to bottom. The park is open, with two big kickers and a couple of smaller ones still going. The pipe has long closed, and around lunchtime one of the groomers could be seen blowing snow out of it to help with coverage elsewhere. Except at the very top, bald patches abound. Route 1 and 2 can still be ridden and are quite bumpy. Goryu is open too, but the course down to the bottom (a 10m wide strip in places) closed last Saturday, so descent is by the gondola. The wide Alps Daira course has a large roped-off mogul area with jumps, but the rest is quite mogulled too with the vast majority (maybe 95%) of the clientele there on skis. Coverage at the top of Goryu is very good.

Over at Happo, there is still a metre near the top, and the Kurobishi, Skyline, Usagidaira, and Panorama courses are open, with access via the gondola or the Kita One quad. Tsugaike has 165cm at the top, with the Tsuga no Mori and Han no Ki courses still open.

The lifts stop moving at all resorts on May 5.

At Tateyama, Ooyuki no Tani, where the bus runs along the road banked by high walls of snow, is up to 17m deep this year. From the Toyama side, ski buses will be running several times a day until May 11 for some mellow-looking (?) runs from Murodo down to the road and then back up by bus without hiking. See the Alpen Route website for details. A detachable lift will also be set up at Tateyama later this month.

Sanosaka’s Water Jump will open on June 14th this year, which strikes me as a lot later than last year. Goryu’s Water Jump (the “AirField”) is open just for Golden Week (until May 6), but doesn’t open properly until May 31.
