The temperature is presently 10 degrees in the valley and 8 degrees at 1600 meters but will be rising through the day to a possible 12 degrees plus. The skies are clear with a couple of nice puffy cumulus clouds over the tops of the peaks. Winds are calm. It is a wonderful spring day with firm groomed corn up on the slopes. Some lifts have closed over the weekend but most lifts are still running in Hakuba and there is ample snow to ski out at the bottoms. There are a couple of bare spots to watch for, however.

The forecast is for showers tonight turning to snow tomorrow and continuing to snow to Friday. So looks like we could have some fresh up there for the weekend.

Avalanche Danger is Moderate.

The snow from last week has settled or fallen already and natural avalanches have not been seen for a least 2 days. This does not mean that slides can not be triggered, however, and as temperatures rise there will still be loose wet slides from the surface snow. There are no doubt still pockets of past wind deposit still lurking on the North East chutes and bowls and you should still take due caution on steep convex terrain below trees, rock out crops and under cornices. These cornices will also becoming more likely to drop as temperatures rise.

Be cautious with the forecasted new snow or rain on the snow pack as this will change the stability drastically.

Play safe, have fun and come back to ride another day.
