Last night the rain hit reasonably hard in the valley, up as high as 1200m. At present it is warm (7 deg C) with the odd light bit of rain, with more rain expected this afternoon. The rain has creating slushy conditions on the ski areas today.

Tomorrow the long awaited snow is forecast to hit early morning and become heavier throughout the day. The snow is forecast to continue for the next week. This is a huge relief to the lower lying ski areas; Okutone, Norn, Oana, White Valley.

I would not recommend getting out there this afternoon, unless you enjoy riding slush in the rain. Wait until tomorrow!
