28 deg C in Minakami today. Winter has definitely ended!

Tenjindaira closed on Sunday bringing an official end to the snow season. It has been a very different season for Minakami with record low snowfalls. It seems everyone was waiting most of the season for the snow to come but it didn't really eventuate. A far cry from last season when the army was called out to shovel roofs with all time recorded high snow falls.

However, it is hard to complain about a 4m snow base when ski areas in other parts of the world are happy with 40cm. There was still a few excellent days of powder, especially with the freak storms in mid March.

I will be putting up weekly posts during the green season with Minakami's weather and river conditions and news about upcoming outdoor events. The snow has all but melted but the lakes and rivers are full!
