Welcome to April - or at least that's what it feels like today.

A moderate to strong wind from the south, very high temperatures, and a snowpack that is disappearing before our eyes. The resorts haven't changed much yet, but looking around our yard, which we can almost see, that snow is shrinking fast. The rain isn't falling yet, but Mt. Kurohime to the south is wearing a cloud cap, a usually sign of rain ahead.

Lots of avalanches reported around the area, but no word of anyone caught or hurt - and let's keep it that way! Hopefully a lot of people saw the potential, or maybe it was just the wet, heavy snow that kept them out of the backcountry. As things change from warm to a return to cold, we could have some dangerous conditions again.

But whatever, I hope there's a lot of snow ahead, because at this rate of melting/sublimation, the season is going to end soon.
