It's a blustery day in Myoko; a pretty good snowfall overnight that has only picked up this morning, and a strong wind coming from the northwest.

Heavy snow, too, today—the snowthrower got clogged up several times with the fine, dense snow that fell overnight.

The fresh this morning is a little lighter and more skier friendly; the earlier stuff would make for hard skiing (and hard climbing) offpiste. The snow is not that stable, either—use extreme care if you do decide to climb today. I know several tour companies that decided to cancel tours for more controlled circumstances (like powder lessons in the resorts!).

These cycles of sun/warm temperatures followed by snow and wind is making things unpredictable, so better to be conservative - but still find a safe place to ski!

Driving is also tough today; went up to Seki Onsen this morning, and there were several tie-ups as cars without four-wheel drive and/or chains could not get up the hill. It's not just inconvenient, it can be dangerous with cars sliding down the road....
