It was pretty warm in the valleys but remained below freezing on Myoko to keep the snow from melting and icing subsequently. But packing has got the levels slightly down. That's good news for cross country skiers and snow-shoe trekkers. This is about the average time of year that packing allows trekkers to start walking on the snow surface easily.

Snows are beginning to steadily fall at Akakura and Seki, so freeriding at Seki should be fine this afternoon. Nothing yet on the Nagano side (Suginohara, Kurohime, Togakushi) but full on this evening.

The pick of the day is Akakura Onsen. The old Champion Course has opened again. That's the course with The Wall (38deg straight down), Japan's steepest run. And the snow goes on...

Your Myoko area levels for today:
245cm (Akakura Kanko);
245cm (Akakura Onsen);
190cm (Ikenotaira);
315cm at the top, 130cm bottom (Suginohara);
240cm (Kumado Snowboard Park);
140cm (Pine Valley);
325cm (Seki Onsen);
150cm (Madarao Tangram Ski Circus);
