I don't know why the official figures show there is no change in the snow cover at Naeba, because in the short time it took me to walk to an unfortunately closed bar and back last night, I collected a 2 cm layer on my body. It snowed all day and night yesterday and when I went skiing during the evening session, there was a large amount of powder softening my forays into the ground ie when I fell over.

Kagura is once again today reporting 40-60cm of fresh snow since yesterday.

Today, it is expected to continue to snow throughout the day, but at lighter levels compared to yesterday's fall. The winds are relatively weak and visiblity is pretty good. The weather is pretty good, currently at -5 degrees and a windchill of -11. The windchill is expected to drop to -20 during the night session.

Several lifts at Naeba are currently undergoing safety checks but are expected to open (more information below). Parts of the Hiuchi #1 Ski Slope are closed due to it being a weekday.

At Kagura, the Forestry Expert Course, the Downhill course and the Shirakaba and Intermediate course will be closed.

Lastly, due to competitions being held, the Kagura Main Ski Slope is fenced off from 1/11 - 1/19.

Have fun.
