Light snow persisted through much of yesterday and overnight into this morning adding at least another 10cm of light powder. Conditions are much improved around the mountain and although it's not super deep there has been enough new snow over the last couple of days to soften the turns and make things much more enjoyable.
The current snow should ease a bit through the day with only occassional flurries continuing. Tomorrow though will see snow return and reasonably heavy falls can be expected for the remainder of the outlook. So conditions are just going to get better and better.

Current Official Snow Depths:

Grand Hirafu:
Top - 190
Bottom - 80

Niseko Village:
Top - 130
Bottom - 90

Top - 145
Bottom - 100

Avalanche Information:

Annupuri 800m at 6am: -8℃, 8cm of overnight snowfall of rimed crystal snow. The wind is stagnating around 10m/s NW in high elevation.
No notable development of snowdrifts can be observed, however some unstable patches have formed in leeward terrains. Stay alert especially in steep faces.
South facing bowls and gullies have been highly affected by the strong wind of the last few days, some slopes have been scuffed by the wind and resulted in a hard pack, crusts and some patches of fresh snow, mixed condition in the same slope.
The following snowfall will probably take relatively long time to settle on the present surface layer.
Also, it may be better to keep in mind that “depth hoar” layers are notably forming and developing because of the lack of snow. This season’s formation of facets and depth hoar layers (potential weak layer triggering slides) are more distinguished compared to other seasons. Be conscious and be prepared before dropping into suspicious terrain. Extra caution should be taken especially in southerly facing steep slopes.
Gate 6 (Moiwa) is scheduled to open today. Follow the ski patrol’s instructions.
