Finally some fresh snow out there! There was very little overnight but since around 6am this morning there's been around 25-30cm fall. It has also been accommpanied by strong winds which are causing some major drifting of the new snow up high. Top lifts in Hirafu and Hanazono are on wind hold but Annupuri and Niseko Village which are somewhat protected by the peak have all lifts running.
Although not completely bottomless the slopes will be a lot softer today with some nice nice powdery turns to be had.

Current Official Snow Depths:

Grand Hirafu:
Top - 360
Bottom - 190

Niseko Village:
Top - 390
Bottom - 210

Top - 330
Bottom - 220

Avalanche Information:

A strong NNW wind is blowing at the peak, making heavy snowdrifts to develop in upper Backbowl. 15m/s and stronger NW winds have persisted for 12 hours in 1000m elevation western Annupuri and Mikaeri ridge. Cornices and snowdrifts are drastically developing and are very unstable and vulnerable to stimulations. Surface slab avalanche up to 50cm thickness is likely to occur anywhere around 1000m elevations. The out of bounds condition is very hazardous and all peak gates will be kept closed for the day. Most avalanche accidents happen during and just after storms. Please respect the ski patrol’s instructions. 15cm of fresh snow has fallen at the base. The snow in the trees and along the courses is, although still a bit shallow, mostly recovered. Do not duck ropes to step out of bounds.
Annupuri peak 7am: NNW15.4m/s and -13.1℃. Coastal data: N11m/s at Benkei cape, SE2m/s and 2.7m waves at Kamui cape.
