Snowfalls continued on and off through much of yesterday and through the night but cleared up early this morning. First thing the sun was out and the mountains were mostly free of cloud and it looked like we were in for another sunny day but it all changed rather quickly and currently it's snowing again moderately heavily.
The snow should continue through into the afternoon and then clear later. the good news is the wind has abated and all lifts and all gates are expected to open today. There'll be some reasonably deep snow out through the gates.
Tomorrow is expected to fine up and be another bluebird day. I reckon there's been more sun in these first couple of weeks of Feb than what we normall get in the whole month!
Today and tomorrow will be the best of the snow conditions for the week with high pressure ridging across Honshu on Wednesday swinging the winds around more west-south westerly bringing milder air over the island. We can expect temperatures to get a few degrees above freezing at the base of the mountain.

Avalanche Information:

The strong NW to NNW wind has calmed down around midnight. Annupuri peak 6am: WNW 7.5m/s and -14.3℃. Annupuri 800m: WNW 4m/s and -11℃. Light snowfall has kept coming on and off until pre-dawn, but the snow deposit depends on yesterday’s strong wind exposure. Variable snow depth is found in the same slope orientation. Wind exposed high elevation slopes are mostly hard-packed and rugged. South facing steep faces have a crust layer (Feb 12th) underneath the fresh snow and some surface slab slides were observed in those slopes around 800 to 900m yesterday. Unstable low-density layers are still present underneath the newly formed snowdrifts and avalanche hazard is still to be highly considered in typical avalanche terrain such as the Backbowl, Osawa and Higashi-One’s cornice slopes. All gates are scheduled to open this morning and peak gates 2 & 3 around 11am. Please respect the ski patrol’s instructions. Many cases of removing ropes and entering the strictly off limits areas have been reported lately. All ropes are there for good reasons and should be respected by everyone. Whether ducked or removed, boundary lines must not be crossed as it may lead other’s misinterpretation and increase the chance of accidents to happen. We strongly demand everybody to respect the basic ethics of riding in a ski resort.
